Pattern: Dragon Scale Fingerless Gloves

Comments:
Hands were getting cold while crocheting the amigurumi plants so I thought it might be nice to crochet a pair of fingerless gloves.
Looked around for something fun and found the Dragon Scale Fingerless Gloves pattern by the Yarnivore UK on Ravelry.
Made some slight modifications to such as adding a slip stitch to the back of the chain 1 after finishing one side of th crocodil stitch prior to finishing the other side.
This makes for a sharper point.
However, for the scales on my palm, I just did 3 dc for each crocodile stitch sidee and just chained one at the tips for it to be rounded instead of pointed.

Pattern: Tunisian Crochet Honeycomb Stitch Blanket and Herringbone Crochet Border

Comments:
Got hit with the Crochet Bug and decided to finally figure out how to do Tunsian Crochet.
Decided to go with this pattern: Tunisian Crochet Honeycomb Stitch Blanket, with some modifications to make it bigger and add a border.
I went with this border pattern: Herringbone Crochet Border.
I did not single crochet all around the border as suggested, but only single crochet-ed the left hand side of the blanket as only that side didn't have a neat side to add the border to.

Yarn is a Christmas gift from MIL. It's so fuzzy and soft. The pattern calls for 44 rows, but I ran out of yarn at row 32. I'm very happy with how it turned out despite the reduced rows.

Comments:
I had initially bought only 1 skein of yarn thinking I was going to be working on small projects. Changed my mind I decided to work on a shawl. So I bought another skein, and have just alternated the yarn with the rows, so that the different dye lot isn't obvious.

07/19/2009:
Ended up needing 5 skeins.

This is my second crochet project. Wanted to make these as presents for some friends who were moving to a different state. I had quite a lot of trouble with this initially. I was having trouble figuring out which holes were meant from the instructions. After at least 3 trial crosses, I finally worked it out. Jubilation. Don't know it's dimensions as I forgot to measure it prior to giving it away.

01/05/2007:
This is my first crochet project. For Christmas I received a Hobby Lobby gift card from my MIL and decided to give crochet a go.

So I bought:

One thing to note, the book I bought does not have instructions on how to do the basic stitches. I learnt from looking at the online videos from http://www.nexstitch.com/Tutorials.html

My MIL gave me some yarn to play with initially to get used to doing some of the stitches prior to actually stitching the project. I also started the project and after 3 rows realized that I had made a mistake in which holes to hook through and just decided to cut it and restart instead of unravelling. There was still some unravelling that I did when I started the project but that's all part of the learning process. Incidentally the pattern actually calls for 2 yarns to be worked together, but I decided to just do one as I figured that would be easier. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
